Eat, sleep, skincare, repeat. We only have one body, it’s important to take care of it. Going to the spa can get expensive but lucky for you, I have some tips to make Spa Night at Home a close second.

If you follow me, you already know how much I promote self-care. One of my favorite quotes is, “You can’t pour from an empty cup”. What good will you be to others if you don’t take care of yourself? Dedicating an hour out of your week to take of yourself will go a long way.

What do you think of when you think of a spa? Relaxation? Facials? Wellness? The actual word “Spa” means to heal through water. There are several benefits to spa treatments. They help with anti-aging, enhance sleep, relieve pain, reduce stress and many more. So, you ask, what is on my list for Spa Night? A long hot bath or shower, Deep conditioning treatment, massage ball with essential oils and a facial.

Soaking in a tub of hot water does wonders for you. Check out my other post about using your 5 senses to boost your bath experience. I will discuss a few takeaways from that article. The atmosphere is important for relaxation. Candlelit room and spa-like music can make a huge difference. Also, sipping on a cold refreshing drink or sucking on frozen grapes can make the experience far more enjoyable.

Choice in bath Products is important. Are you looking to relieve muscle soreness? Looking for an invigorating smell? Want to be surrounded by bubbles? Trying to hydrate your skin? There are endless bath products out there for whatever your needs are. If you aren’t a bath person, there are also things like shower steamers that can make boost your shower experience.

Back to Home Spa Night. Start with a bath or shower. This will relax you and open up your pours. Keep the lights low, calming music on and give some extra time to things like a deep conditioning treatments and exfoliating scrubs.

After you have heated up your body temp, you can use a massage ball or roller with a few drops of essential oils. This is great after a workout. Make sure you stay hydrated. Massages increase circulation within the body which means fluid movement is increased.

Now onto my favorite part, the facial. I broke down the steps do on my weekly spa night facial along with some links to my favorite products.

Face Wash. Wash your face so that you remove the dirt and debris. It’s like starting with a blank canvas. Make sure you put your face dry. I use Set Me Free Pore Cleanser. The active ingredients include Tea Tree Oil, Willowbark (natural salicylic acid) and Yucca which known for its antiseptic properties.

Exfoliation. Exfoliation is important to remove the top layer of dead skin on your face. There are two products I really like. I use whichever I have on hand. One is Lush’s Ocean Salt. It not only smells amazing but it also works wonders for exfoliating. The ingredients include Salt, Grapefruit, Lime and Avocado. The other product is called Crystal Ball. It’s a microdermabrasion treatment. The key ingredients include Pumice, Green Tea, licorice, Jojoba and sunflower oils.

Steaming. Steaming opens your pours so that the skincare products can absorb better in your skin. I use a steamer that holds distilled water. A great alternative if you don’t want to purchase one is to run hot water in your sink. The hot water creates steam and you can hold your face over the sink for a few mins. It will have the same effect as a steam machine.

Face Mask. There are so many types of face masks to choose from. There are liquid, foaming, sheets, clay and charcoal among others. It is all preference. I have tried hundreds of masks. I like to change it up but I do have a couple I use frequently. The Lush Magnamity mask is my absolute favorite! It has a cooling sensation when applied and the ingredients include Mint, Kaolin Clay, Ground Aduki Beans and Honey. My other favorite is Beauty Society’s Saving Face Foaming Mask . It has a slight tingle as it foams but not in an uncomfortable way-Haha. You just know it’s working. A few key ingredients are Green Coffee, Sunflower and Allantoin (anti-inflammatory). Whichever mask you decide to use, make sure you test it out to make sure you don’t have a reaction to the ingredients. I usually use masks a couple times a week.

Vitamin C Treatment & Roller. The roller is a step you don’t want to miss. There are many types of face rollers, two of the most popular being Jade and Rose Quartz. Each stone has benefits but the action of rolling is the important part. There are many benefits to using one. It stimulates your lymphatic system, increases blood flow, eliminates toxins under eyes, face and jaw line as well as alleviate the appearance of puffiness and fine lines. I suggest storing your roller in the fridge. The colder temperature contracts the blood vessels which tightens the skin which reduces the appearance of pores. Roll your face and neck in an upward motion while applying a comfortable pressure. Roll over the same area a couple times in a row before moving to the next area.

You don’t have to apply a product prior to using the roller. However, this is an opportunity to add something else beneficial. I use Vitamin C Crystals. They are not abrasive like an exfoliator. I mix the crystals with a skincare product called Drama Free Repair Serum. It is great for promoting collagen, razor burn and acne scaring.

Blackhead removal & Pore Cleaner. There are many products out there to tackle black heads. They have strips, extractors and other tools. Nothing compares to an Ion Ultrasonic Tool. Can we say obsessed? Yes, we can-because I am! This took was life changing. Whatever brand you buy, make sure it has multiple settings on it like cleansing and lifting. The one I have has 4 settings but I seem to use the ion + setting the most. That is for dirt and blackhead removal. This sucker is amazing! You can see the blackheads pop out one by one. Get yourself one!

Dermaplaning. If ya never heard of it, you are missing out. I just started doing this last year. I wish I knew about it years ago. A dermaplaner is a razoryes, I said it. I’m telling you to take a razor to your face. You will thank me later. Dermaplaning improves skin texture, removes fine hairs and helps with the absorption of moisturizers. Now keep in mind, this is not the same as a professional dermaplaning experience but it is perfect for your Home Spa Night Routine. Your skin will feel super soft after. Your makeup will blend better. Best of all, you won’t catch that glimpse of facial hair you see on a sunny day when you look in your car mirror. Hold the blade at a 45-degree angle and move it in small strokes downward (the direction of growth). Continue that on your entire face. Be careful around your eyebrows.

Moisturizing. The final step in our Home Spa Night is to moisturize your smooth glowing skin. There is no shortage of moisturizers on the market. I have several I go between, Clinique, Beauty Society, Hemptz etc. Moisturizer is what keeps our face hydrated and keeps pollutes out of pores. Along with moisturizers, I like to include eye creams. My absolute favorite is Upgrade Caffeinated Botanical Eye Cream. The metal application tool is a game-changer. It feels cold when you apply the cream. The ingredients include Hyaluronic Acid, Caffeine, Algae Extracts and Cupuacu Butter.

Your skin will feel amazing after a Home Spa Night Routine. There is no wrong way to do it. You can add in other favorites like Cucumbers on your eyes, Soothing rice pack on your neck or a manicure. The important part is that you carve out a few minutes dedicated to relaxing and taking care of yourself.
